The Workers’ Compensation Court of Existing Claims is the primary administrative and adjudicatory body for workers’ compensation. It resolves workers’ compensation disputes, regulates self-insured employers, maintains insurance coverage records for all employers, establishes maximum reimbursement limits for health care services rendered to Oklahoma workers injured on the job, and maintains an Independent Medical Examiner System (facilitates resolution of medical related disputes), Medical Case Manager System, and Mediation System (facilitates final disposition of workers’ compensation claims without the necessity of trial). The Court also provides information about workers’ compensation through its Counselors Department (918-581-2393), participation in seminars sponsored by the Oklahoma Bar Association and others, and through Court-sponsored educational conferences.

The State Department of Labor may penalize employers which fail to secure workers’ compensation insurance coverage for their employees. In addition, the Department offers a “Premium Reduction Program” pertaining to workers’ compensation insurance coverage.

The Workers’ Compensation Fraud Unit of the Office of the Attorney General investigates and prosecutes fraud on the part of claimants, doctors, attorneys and insurance companies. The Unit also provides education and training about workers’ compensation fraud.
